Aider, c'est branché! program

Origins
Since it was founded, young people have been calling Tel-jeunes to help out their friends. The problems they help with are often challenging, and handling them requires knowledge and experience. These young people need support if they are to play the right role at the right time without over-estimating their real abilities. They are barometers for those around them. To allow them to go even farther and broaden the scope of peer support, Tel-jeunes has designed the Aider, c’est branché! program.

The program
Aider, c’est branché! is a Tel-jeunes program intended for peer-support groups in school settings. Its dynamic workshops are held in schools and led by Tel-jeunes’ counsellors.

The objective of the Aider, c’est branché! program is to transmit information on a range of issues and develop young people’s peer-support skills. The subjects discussed by Tel-jeunes’ counsellors include:
  • Romantic relationships
  • Bullying
  • Performance pressure
  • Suicide
In addition to these workshops, Tel-jeunes organizes a province-wide conference (in french) every two years that provides a unique opportunity for peer-support workers to:
  • Receive specialized information on topical issues
  • Receive and learn specific tools that help them better help others
  • Discuss the challenges of peer counselling
  • Network with the entire Quebec peer-support network
