Being a guy
So, you're a guy and:
  • things aren’t going so well?
  • you're hurting and don't know why?
  • you're not comfortable asking for help?
  • you tell yourself "things aren’t that bad... I can handle it!"
It's not always easy for guys to admit that they need help. This section will give you some pointers that should make asking for help as painless as possible.

"Boys don’t cry!" Have you ever heard this saying? This type of message is often what we base our behaviour on.

"Be strong!" Guys are supposed to be strong, independent, and in control, and not show when they're hurting. That’s just not true! Just because you’re a guy doesn’t mean you don't have feelings, can't be going through a tough time, and can't suffer or cry. And you have just as much right as anyone else to get help when you're going through a rough period.

A couple of questions you might want to ask yourself…
  • How do you think a guy should deal with his problems?
  • Does your opinion influence your decision to get help?
