Sexual orientation

Are you wondering about yourself?

You’re not alone!
During adolescence, many teenagers question their sexual orientation and it’s perfectly normal. This is the time you start becoming sexually active. You may fantasize about or feel attracted to people of the opposite sex and the same sex. Teenagehood is a time of discovery.

A time to explore and experiment

It’s important to keep in mind that exploring and experimenting aren’t what determine your sexual orientation, but it can help you to discover your feelings and your romantic and sexual attractions. So if you happened to have had a homosexual experience, it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s your sexual orientation. Take the time to learn your preferences.

A dark secret?
Are you becoming aware of your homosexual or bisexual orientation? You could be thinking about how hard it might be to confide in your friends and family because you’re worried about their reaction and judgement. Remember that you’re not alone and don’t hesitate to talk with a counsellor at your school or the CLSC. Tel-jeunes is also here to provide support. Don’t suffer in silence.
