Time to chose: stay or go
If you’re a gang member, you’ll probably:
- Be scared and think of the risk you’re taking
- Notice that things are getting worse (a friend is hurt or killed)
- Feel like taking another path (studies, work)
- Love somebody who isn’t a gang member
- Think of your parents
- Be arrested or wanted by the police
- Have you taken the time to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of staying in or quitting the gang?
- Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
- Are there other ways to achieve your goals and satisfy your needs?
- Do you know friends or adults who are not gang members and to whom you can talk in confidence?
- Did you know that there are special projects to help gang members get out of street gangs? Don’t hesitate to get information from counsellors in organizations in your neighbourhood.
